Putting below Header Google adsense placement to the test

Oct 27 moved Large rect Adsense unit from below post on Contests 4 Canada to below header.
Before moving Adsense unit these were the stats for this unit:Sept 26 to Oct 26
Oct.27th to Oct 30th These were the stats

I then realized I should have changed the custom channel description. and changed it.
Now to examine what will happen between Oct 27 and Nov 27

Test-Adding Google Adsense Below Post Titles

How to Add Google Adsense Below Your Post Titles

Adding Google Adsense below post titles may or may not increase Google Adsense revenue, from a logical standpoint it makes sense. For several years Google posted an image showing the best way to optimize your Adsesnse, mapping the areas with coloured heat zones, and showing right below the title as the prime spot for ads. Oddly enough they never revealed the code to implement this mapping.

Now there is a new one click optimizer showing various optimization patterns for different types of content now,

I've tried out several differemt sets of instructions to add the Google Adsense code to my sites in the past.Today's test is using the directions found on Blogger Sentral, by Green Lava.

How I added Google Adsense Code below each post title on every page.

  1. Created Google Adsense code for a new ad 300 x 250 unit using text and Image ads.
  2. Used the Html Escape App at http://www.accessify.com/tools-and-wizards/developer-tools/quick-escape/default.php
  3. Clicked Design-Html-Expand Widgets
  4. Click CTRL+F and entered the search 'data:post.body'
  5. Pasted the escaped code above the line with data:post.body
  6. Clicked 'Preview' -loaded fine.
  7. Clicked 'Save'

Results:New Adsense Code appeared below each header on each page. Also since only 3 Adsense banner type ads are permitted per page,it wiped out my right-hand column ad on the Home page for the blog.

Before starting the experiment 1 had 10 Google Adsense ads:

Maim page
3 banner ads-
  • Leader Board 728 x
  • Right Skyscraper
  • Bottom Large rectangle
3 link Units:
  • 728 above content
  • 2 automated link units between posts with 3 posts appearing on the main page
Policies page
  • 3 banner ads-
    • Leader Board 728 x
    • Right Skyscraper
    • Bottom Large rectangle
  • 1 link Units:
    • 728 above content
After implementing the code I had 10 Google Adsense ads:

    Main Page
    3 banner ads-
    • Leader Board 728 x
    • 2 automated Rectangles (leaving Large blanks in the right column and the top of the 3rd post and the bottom of the page)
    1 link Unit:
    • 728 above content
    Policies page
    • 3 banner ads-
      • Leader Board 728 x
      • Right Skyscraper
      • Bottom Large rectangle
    • 1 link Units:
      • 728 above content
Discoveries-Apparently the embedded code in posts over-rides the link units,as well as the other banner ads on the page.
P- Adsense Banner ads are placed directly on pages more valuable in posts than link ads as they can be targeted.
    M-Large blank spaces
I-Wonder which has better CTR leader or Banner ad? Possible to place more than1 pot on static pages?

Next steps -Remove link units from automated.Put link units outside posts Only display 2 posts per page.
    Add search bars

    Link Within Test - Gabby

Gabby wrote:I installed LINKWITHIN and it only displays the test "You make also like" and a small, grey "Linkwithin" on the side. It won't display posts regardless of how many alike tags my 60 posts have. I continue to email them and re-install, but nothing works and they do not respond. I even copy and pasted my best friend's URL to my widget in layout to see what would happen. It worked! Sadly, it displayed her posts. I'm positive it's something wrong with my ID number in the HTML. Any help, please!?

    Test 3.
LinkWithin Adding Duplicate of Different feed to Blog Results - no change

    Test 4.
LinkWithin Adding 2nd Widget of another feed to Blog Results - Shows Widget of last widget added.

    Conclusions and questions

P-You can add the feed of a different blog to your site.
M-Only the results of 1 widget will show

I wonder if there are other problems with Gabby's feed. Sometimes a feed will stick if the person has formatted posts in Word -the code will cause feed problems.
